Entry, museum and archives addition - Pendleton OR

"It is my pleasure to recommend to you Laurie Simpson.  As an architect for the Umatilla County Historical Society, she helped us with a major facility expansion.  The project bridged several years, involved planning, design, cost estimation, and coordinating a variety of laymen and building trade professionals. She, and the rest of the team, listened to what we hoped to achieve.  Laurie translated that to paper and from that the plan emerged. It is not always easy to please our group, but we were pleased with the plan.  We then used the plan for fundraising.  Laurie helped us develop a budget and was there to answer questions that came up during the campaign.  Our project involved new construction and renovation to a building that is a contributing site for a national historic district.   Not only did we have to follow all of the rules for addressing a historical building, but we used federal funds for part of the project, so that meant adapting our original drawings to meet the federal criteria (i.e. changing all of our original drawings to metric measure) and Laurie met with the governmental representatives on our behalf to accomplish that. We are very pleased with the museum, archive and research wing and new lobby.”
